17 May Slash Your Marketing Budget By Getting Votes for Your Website
“Google’s Pagerank Technology Effects Your Marketing Budget”
Believe me when I tell you that whether you choose to acknowledge it or not your website is ALWAYS being dissected, scrutinized and monitored for relevancy and content under the careful watch of Googles “Page Rank Technology”…
What’s that you say…? Page Rank Technology? What the H. E. Double L is that? I thought if I just uploaded a website, put some pretty pictures on it and a way to contact me little magic elves would come and carry it off to the promised land and I would magically appear all over the Internet lapping up leads left and right, conquer the world and crush my competitors one click at a time…
Aaaaaahhhhhh Wrong Answer Amigo!
Google’s pagerank technology in a nut shell is Google’s way of deciding a page’s importance. It matters because it is one of the factors that determines a page’s ranking in the search results. And if your SEO (If you have one) can’t answer what that technology is, you may want to re-consider who your entrusting your businesses SEO to.
The page ranking technology I’m referring to, or at least for the purposes of this article is how other websites link to yours. Google figures that when one page or site links to another page or site, it is effectively casting a vote for the other page. The more votes that are cast for a page (or site), the more important the page must be. Also, the importance of the page that is casting the vote determines how important the vote itself is.
So in other words getting other websites to link to yours is good BUT…you don’t want just any ol website linking back to you…You want theme related or topically related sites linking back yours. Those are amongst the highest level of back links you can obtain for your site.
Other factors that equate to high search results are well organized websites. That’s right…if you have a website with a bunch of broken links on it directing to error pages, that can also have an adverse effect on your sites rankings in the search results.
That’s two!
But what about alt text, internal linking, external linking, overall architect of your site, keyword optimization, keyword density (how much is to much or to little) meta information per page, robots txt files, sitemaps etc. The list goes on and on when it comes to website optimization.
One last thing to ponder about page rank…If the stars were all aligned, and the lunar planets were…well doing whatever lunar planets do perfectly… and because your a smart and savvy website/business owner and your website is completely optimal for search engines as well as human viewers…what do you think that’s going to do for your marketing budget???
Its gonna lower it of course! Because you actually listened to someone who’s been in this game for a long time and now you lowered your marketing /ad spend because your sitting pretty on page one getting all the leads your business can possibly handle…
Great Job…
Your Welcome.
